With so many people wanting to learn electric guitar with online electric guitar lessons, many people assume a cheap electric guitar will fine for starting. This is a huge mistake.

The main reason why an electric guitar will be expensive is the quality of materials it is made with. You can get a guitar for very cheap if it is not made of wood or low quality wood is used. These guitars tend to sounds bad and not play on very well.

Choosing an electric guitar like this could mean it does sound right to your ear and no matter how much you practice you will never quite sound like you should. It is better to spend a little bit of money and get a descent quality wood electric guitar then but a cheap guitar made of plastic that you will have to replace anyway.

If you can afford it, buy a guitar with a solid wood back and sides. A solid wood top will also improve the sound of your playing.

When buying a new electric guitar brand new, you should probably expect to pay over 100 dollars to get a guitar that will be good enough quality for when you are learning. Cheap guitars are using not constructed well and can be horrible to play. If you are looking for deals you can always look for a second hand guitar or even try ebay for a deal.

Second hand electric guitars can be a great choice for someone with a limited budget. Guitars that have been used for a few years will actually sound better than newer electric guitars. Most local guitar dealers can help you find a great second hand electric guitar for a reasonable price.
